Vocabie — Terms of Service

Welcome to Vocabie! These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you", or "your") and CygoLabs and Vocabie ("we", "our", or "us") regarding your access to and use of the Vocabie mobile and desktop applications, website, and related educational services (collectively, the "Services").

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Vocabie, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Description of Services

Vocabie is a language learning companion application that enables users to:

  • Create, manage, and study customized vocabulary flashcards.
  • Utilize an algorithmically managed spaced repetition system (SM-2) to optimize memory retention.
  • Access an AI-assisted communal dictionary providing definitions, parts of speech, translations, and contextual example sentences across 11 supported languages.
  • Track personal learning statistics, daily study streaks, and study quota milestones.

2. Eligibility & User Accounts

  • Age Requirements: You must be at least 13 years of age (or 16 in the EEA / UK) to use the Services.
  • Account Types: You may create an account using Apple ID, Google, or use the App anonymously in Guest Mode. We advise linking guest accounts to prevent data loss upon device reset or app uninstallation.
  • Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated study data at any time through the in-app Settings > Account > Delete Account menu.

3. Subscriptions, Purchases & Billing

  • In-App Purchases (IAP): All payments, subscriptions (Plus, Pro), and word credit purchases are processed directly through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Subscription status is synchronized across devices via RevenueCat.
  • Automatic Renewal: Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless canceled at least 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
  • Cancellation & Refunds: Manage and cancel subscriptions directly via your device settings (Apple App Store Account Settings or Google Play Subscriptions menu). Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple or Google.
  • Credit Wallet: In-app word credits have no cash value and cannot be redeemed, transferred, or refunded.

4. Intellectual Property & Limited License

All intellectual property rights in the Services—including the Vocabie name, logo, software code, UI design, graphics, algorithms, and documentation—are the exclusive property of CygoLabs. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, revocable license for personal, non-commercial educational use. Reverse engineering or scraping shared dictionary content is strictly prohibited.

5. AI-Assisted Content & Educational Disclaimers

Vocabie incorporates AI models to assist in generating dictionary entries, definitions, and example sentences. Educational materials are provided for supplemental study purposes "AS IS" without warranties of grammatical infallibility.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. IN NO EVENT SHALL CYGOLABS OR VOCABIE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES.

7. Platform-Specific Terms (Apple & Google)

These Terms are between you and CygoLabs only, and not with Apple Inc. or Google LLC. Apple and Google have no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to the App.
